The goal of CSLP is to create leaders in our critical times of the “Great Turning.” To deepen both courage and wisdom for the battles ahead. To deepen our minds and hearts and the actions that flow from our hearts and minds.
The program will include five seminar courses taught by special and very grounded teachers.
“Foundations of Creation Spirituality” will lay out the basic principles of CS and Leadership including Original Blessing, the Cosmic Christ archetype (which parallels the Buddha Nature archetype from the East and the Image of God archetype from Judaism), Panentheism, mystical/prophetic dialectic and more. The teacher, Dr. Gianluigi Gugliermetto, PhD from Claremont University, is an Episcopal pastor in Christ Church, Ontario, California who has translated about ten of Matthew Fox’s books into Italian.
“Ecology and the New Cosmology” taught by Dr. Theodore Richards, author of numerous award-winning books such as Creatively Maladjusted: The Wisdom Education Movement Manifesto; Cosmosophia; A Letter to My Daughters. Ted did his doctoral studies with cosmologist Brian Swimme at CIIS. After working with Matthew Fox as director of the YELLAWE program for inner city teenagers in Oakland he returned to south Chicago where he began the Chicago Wisdom Project (www.chicagowisdomproject.org) which reaches out to inner city young adults and has spawned the Baltimore Wisdom Project, the ReImagine magazine and more.
On the Mystics will be taught the first year by Matthew Fox and Mirabai Starr. Its focus will be on Julian of Norwich (whose work Mirabai translated in a well received translation) and Meister Eckhart about whom Fox has written three books. Additional works by Starr include Wild Mercy: Living the Fierce and Tender Wisdom of the Women Mystics; Caravan of No Despair.
Deep Ecumenism or Interfaith will be taught the first year by Andrew Harvey and Matthew Fox and will explore meetings of mystical/activist pioneers as Aquinas Meeting Dalai Lama; Hildegard Meeting Kabir, Rabia meeting Hildegard, etc. Eckhart Meeting Thich Naht Hahn, etc. Harvey has authored over forty books including The Hope; Son of Man; the Return of the Mother; Turn Me to God: 108 Poems of Kabir.
Culture and CS will be overseen by Ted Richards. It will focus on reinventing education and the wisdom of youth. It will include interaction with youth leaders such as Rev. Adam Bucko, founder of the Reciprocity Foundation and co-author of Occupy Spirituality and The New Monasticism; Paul Engler, author of This Is an Uprising; Rev. Jerry Maynard, 26 y/o catholic worker activist & priest; Rev. Chelsea MacMillan, co-founder of the Brooklyn Center for Sacred Activism and co-host of The Rising: Spirituality for Revolution; and others.
In addition to these seminars, CSLP will include Art as Meditation classes. Three are being offered the first year:
