Trumpet Sounds, Five Alarm Shouts, of What Is Happening NOW in the U.S.

I share here a litany of warning signs of what is transpiring in America now.  I tried to warn people about the presence of the antichrist energy before the election in my book, Trump & The MAGA Movement as Anti-Christ. Both the religious and secular press was afraid to look at it or review it.  It was apparently too hot to handle.  Now things are very hot in our country for those who are paying attention.

“U.S. could lose democracy status, says global watchdog” writes Alexander Panetta of CBS News. Staffan Lindberg, head of the Varieties of Democracy project, of Sweden’s University Gothenburg, has collected 31 million data points from 202 countries from over 4200 scholars who measure 600 different attributes of democracy.*

Said he: “If it continues like this, democracy [in the US] will not last another six months.”  Trump is imitating Erdogan in Turkey, Victor Orban in Hungary and Modi in India but on a much faster scale.  “It’s the pace.  He’s trying to do in a few months what it took them 8-10 years to achieve….It’s very dire.”  Removing the US from the list of democratic countries is on the horizon.

In his article, “Trump Has Gone from Unconstitutional to Anti-Constitutional,” Jamelle Boules writes: An anti-constitutional act is one that rejects the basic premises of constitutionalism.  It rejects the premise that sovereignty lies with the people, that ours is a government of limited and enumerated powers and that the officers of that government are bound by law.** 

Trump’s actions as president demonstrate an “anti-constitutional orientation” and “rest on fundamentally anti-constitutional assertions of executive authority.”  He is “clearly not restrained by the Constitution” or by “another important element of constitutionalism—an interest in and concern for the future.”

A narcissist lives in his own world for his own goals and seeks his own immortality.  (This is me speaking.)

In an article entitled “Welcome to Trump’s America: Where Immigrants Vanish, Courts are Ignored and No One is Safe,” Thom Hartmann offers his stark view of the current American scene.***  He warns us that “once the government starts rounding people up, it doesn’t stop” and “when a president declares an ‘invasion’ to justify shredding the Constitution… he’s declaring war on democracy itself.”  We have defined ourselves for over 240 years as a country where the rule of law, justice, due process, and constitutional order is essential.  “Yet today, we are witnessing a grotesque and unprecedented assault on those very principles.”

What begins with asylum seekers and immigrants can tomorrow be political opponents, journalists or anyone who criticizes the dictator.  Trump’s “border czar” Tom Homan said it out loud.  “We are not stopping.  I don’t care what the judges think.  I don’t care what the Left thinks.  We’re coming.”

Hartmann writes: The Republican Party, already complicit in countless abuses of power, must be forced to confront this atrocity.  Every Republican in the House and Senate who still believes in the Constitution—if any remain—must rise up and act….This fight is not just for Congress—it is for every American.  We must flood the streets in protest, call our representatives, challenge what is going on in the courts, media and ballot box.  Silence is complicity.  The time to resist is now.  Every single American who values freedom, regardless of party affiliation, must speak out.

As we do this, many will need simple but radical prayer to uphold us. The “I am” poems we have shared in the DM’s this week offer such strengthening prayers that ground us in the “source without a source” as Thomas Aquinas once talked of the Creator God.
