We have praised the people of Minneapolis and the marching Buddhist monks for standing up for democracy and diversity in opposition to attacks on DEI from the MAGA White House.
People are blowing the whistle on the Epstein world, where billionaires and other powerful men the world over have been involved in abusing over 1200 women and girls. UN experts say we are talking about a scale that amounts to crimes against humanity.* A huge cover-up is still occurring at DOJ, even after Congress passed a law demanding full disclosure. Shame, shame, shame.
But we must remember other child victims of the current administration as well. I am talking especially of the deliberate attempts at matricide, the killing of Mother Earth and her many creatures, including but not limited to the two-legged ones. Are these not also crimes against humanity?
To destroy and dismantle laws and regulations passed to defend Mother Earth from poisonous air, soil, and waters is another form of child abuse and hatred of the young and those yet to be born.
Part of the strategy of Project 2025 has been to so flood the news with multiple bad headlines every day that disorientation and chaos become the name of the game. The fate of Mother Earth is often neglected by the media who relegate it to the inner pages when it deserves front-page headlines.
When Mother Earth is abused, we are all abused, and future generations are abused, especially the children who are most vulnerable and will be forced to pay the consequences of a depleted Earth down the line. Not only human children, but all the amazing species with whom we share this Earth suffer from a depleted environment.
Parallel to the Epstein class that abuses children, the commitment to matricide by politicians and their corporate allies guarantees further child abuse for generations to come. Not to breathe healthy air and eat from healthy soil or drink and swim in healthy waters is abuse, plain and simple.

These headlines should wake up and rattle every human being on the planet—and surely every mother and father–and deeply so. It is comparable to one’s child being victimized by an evil Epstein pedophile ring.
Kudos to the group calling itself “Moms Clean Air Force” that is leading the way in protecting families from this evil being perpetuated by MAGA.
One cannot imagine a more thorough rejection of Pope Francis’s call for “care for our common home” in his groundbreaking encyclical on the environment, “Laudato Sí.” One would expect every Catholic bishop in America (along with all other religious leaders) to stand up and shout about protecting life from this blatant gutting of environmental laws and protection.
Margo T. Oge, who served three presidents as top EPA vehicle emissions regulator, said: “The U.S. no longer has emission standards of any meaning. Nothing. Zero. Not many countries have zero.”**
When confronted with critics’ environmental and health concerns, Trump replied, “Don’t worry about it because it has nothing to do with public health.”***

YES! YES! Spiritually we should all be concerned, act, and pray for Truth Peace Justice Healing Compassion for All Humanity and for Sacred Mother Earth/Her living creatures/Her graceful abundance because We’re All interconnected/interrelated Co-Creators ONE with Our Living LOVING Evolving Sacred Cosmos in All Its physical/nonphysical spiritual dimensions…. Amen
This column should be read by every candidate for public office, including incumbents. The 47th president is typical of all those who wish no limits on their wealth, including sharing it through equitable taxes. The phrase “Epstein class” covers multitudes who don’t want those unlike themselves to grow more financially secure and personally free. Like Candide at the end of his story, many turn their backs on matters of social justice in order to “cultivate their gardens.” Some of them profess to hate grubby politics, some prefer being entertained in countless ways, including ways that pollute. Individualism that neglects or denies solidarity is a social sin, comparable to the archetypal murder of Abel by Cain. I’m thankful for the Church’s popes of recent times, including Francis and Leo XIV, and for the growing numbers who want to put their exhortations into action.
Thank you, Matthew, for stressing that environmental crimes amount to matricide and child abuse. In “Evening Thoughts” (p. 52), Thomas Berry put it this way: “Also, we can say that the biblical-Christian-classical tradition has intensified this alienation from the natural world and has set up conditions that have permitted extensive plundering of the Earth for human use. As regards our own specifically Western responsibilities, we must note that, although we have developed a moral teaching concerned with suicide, homicide, and genocide, we have developed no effective teachings concerned with biocide, the killing of the life systems of the Earth, or geocide, the killing of the Earth itself.”
Unfortunately, our “moral teaching” concerned with genocide has lately been trampled upon, especially among crowds known for their ostentatious brandishing of the Bible and Christ’s teachings.
To the Epstein class:
Take whatever you can get. Exploit girls, exploit Mother Earth, abuse children. Rob future generations of their right to health, beauty, innocence. Lie, delay, deny. Money will save you. Until it doesn’t (former prince Andrew arrested this morning).
This child, my child, is dying. The son, moon and star child is dying. The fucking earth is dying. I trace your breath with mine. I am breathing in and you are breathing out. You quiver, cough, rattle, sigh. A murmur in the mystery of creation, you enter, exit, expire die.
I add my heart. I add my tears. I would gladly sacrifice my salvation for the renewal of the ecosphere, the reversal of the forces driving the premature destruction of our planet. If the new gospel of the universe were written, or the Bible was reinterpreted to encompass the entire garden of life, as is already happening, I would no longer have to worry and pray about my personal salvation, as my fate belongs to the fate of the earth. I would love to see our universal focus aligned with those areas of our planet upon which the breakdown of the earth systems is most apparent, and judge our progress as a race, a species, a phenomenon, on our efforts to remove the environmental disgraces most affecting the most vulnerable.
