Dear Friends,
This year marks an important milestone for our online community: as we and all Earth’s creatures struggle through the impacts of war, climate change, and rising fascism, Matthew Fox’s Daily Meditations reach their seventh anniversary.
Seven years ago on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019, we launched this site and email. Since then, readers and subscribers have risen, ebbed, and flowed, always with a core of dedicated and loyal readers and commenters. Today is our 2555thMeditation (!) and our 727th video. We pause in awe, reflection, and profound gratitude to be celebrating this occasion with you all: truly, it would never have happened without you.
Make no mistake: these are times when “praying the news” is more necessary and challenging than ever, and we want to honor you, the everyday mystic-warrior-prophets who have persevered on this journey with us. And we are glad to know that our Daily Meditations have provided support for you along the way, as you have shared in your comments and correspondence over the years.
Looking back, we trace the evolution of the DMs: from being assembled and curated by one person, seven days a week, to inviting Gianluigi Gugliermetto on board for three days a week and providing part-time work for an inter-spiritual four-person team with skills spanning ministry, art, music, blogging, vlogging, and web mastery. From daily posts being shared in just one Facebook group to four social media channels. The addition of a Bookshop.org bookstore, making Matthew’s endorsements easily available outside of Amazon. Despite the tech improvements, however, the DMs remain human-created; no AI is ever used in their production.

We are planning an exciting celebration for followers online, a gathering in June where you can meet the DM team and one another, ask questions of Matthew and GG, and share stories. More details will follow.
We are also making improvements to the site, giving easy access to the Vimeo vault of Matthew’s video reflections; improvements to the email, giving subscribers the option to receive daily meditations or the weekly digest; and more.
We believe passionately that, especially at this time, the (r)evolutionary and healing principles of Creation Spirituality are needed. The Meditations constitute a treasure chest of Matthew Fox’s current teachings and videos, and have always been — and will continue to be — free. However, we pay our team to put in the hours of daily art curation, coordination, email moderation, and technology that bring the Meditations to you; and site hosting and email services are an ongoing investment.

How can you help us keep the Daily Meditations up and running? If the DMs have inspired you, guided you, or helped you in your spiritual journey – if you believe the world needs the message they bring – we invite you to support us with a donation of any size: however small or large your gift may be, it makes a difference, and we are deeply grateful.
In addition, please remember us in your prayers and support us by sharing the DM widely. And if you have suggestions for extending the reach of the Meditations, please share your thoughts!
Happy Mothers’ Day to all mothers, grandmothers, & to Gaia herself!

The Meditations sare a wonderful , blessed support and have been for some years. Especially now as I go through a personal physical dark time.
Thank you for your foresight and perception and love.

I am very grateful for the profound and thought provoking meditations. Ever since I read Original Blessing many years ago I deeply respect and am in tune with you all. I ‘m in England. Hoping and praying for an end to horrific cruelty, injustice and destruction everywhere!!
These daily meditations have been a godsend ( literally) to our souls. They have been guideposts on the journey of becoming our true selves. Art as Meditation has become a truism for me, being retired I’m drawn more to my own and shared creativity.
Congratulations DM Team on your 8th year anniversary this Mother’s Day. Matthew’s enclosed Vimeo video nicely gives a summary and review of the genesis of DM and Creation Spirituality.
Creation Spirituality and its promotion and nourishment to our daily challenging lives by the DMs these past eight years have been very important to me by sensitizing and deepening my spiritual journey with humanity and Our Beautiful Sacred Mother Earth and all Her living creatures and graceful abundance with-in Our evolving Cosmos…. My blessings and gratitude to Matthew and the DM Team this Mother’s Day Anniversary!!! 💜🙏
I begin each day with your daily meditations. I can’t not. I’ve tried because sometimes the meditations are too dark for me. I forget that they are meant to put the news in a spiritual context, not to provide daily direction on opening to mysticism. (That is my experience anyway.) I already read some of the NY Times and listen to NPR, and I come to these pages for help about how to seek (or find) God in these times. How to retain hope. How to walk the Christian path. As Meister Eckhart said, “God is at home. It is we who have gone for a walk.” I come here looking for how to “stay home.” Nonetheless, I believe I’ve read these meditations since the very beginning, and what I’ve seen is that you are always ahead of the news—pointing out for example the influence of Leonard Leo over the Supreme Court well before I hear it anywhere else. I deeply value this community. I sense that all of us readers are doing our best to bring Creation to fruition, to bring about a universe of gratitude, peace, justice, and loving kindness for the planet and every life form; so I cannot go away.
Been following the DMs daily since 2021. Read Original Blessing in the 1990s and it helped me in a deep way. I’m not religious but very spiritually oriented. Greatly appreciate being introduced through DMs to topics and persons I would not otherwise come across. Enjoy very much the fresh perspective of GG in addition to the trusted wisdom and compassion of Matthew. I especially value the emphasis on Mother Earth and all her creatures as well as the courage to name and confront those doing a lot of harm. Thank you!
My first exposure to Matthew Fox many yeas ago was Original Blessing. I totally resonated with his thinking. Then I attended a conference , Pathways to Peace at which he was a speaker. At this conference I was introduced to the medieval Christian and Sufi mystics . I was smitten.
I have clicked on the link to donate to these meditations many times. I have always received the message that the page was FORBIDDEN. My disclaimer is that I am a dinosaur; I struggle with technology. Much good stuff goes by the wayside because I do not know how to navigate the terrain. But I LOVE the DNs. Berniece Dahl

We pay attention to grand gestures and expect progress to arrive the same way. As Eisenhower warned in 1961, we are tempted to feel that “some spectacular and costly action will become the miraculous solution to all current difficulties.” He was naming something older: a human instinct co-opted by its times: today’s “maxing” culture.
We demand fireworks; what one yogi calls the seeker’s fixation on miraculous events as the only meaningful measure of the work.
I think we have it backwards. The power is in slow progress. Daily chips at the uncut marble.
The heroic effort is not the end result: it’s today, and tomorrow. Chop wood, carry water, day in, day out. The home built in a day blows down easy. The home built with care becomes a fortress. Matt and his team have built exactly that: a fortress protecting the wisdom, love, and attention of traditions that hold civilization together. Congratulations!
Shoutout to Ellen Kennedy, too, whose devotion made this fortress stand!
Congratulations and gratitude on this 7th anniversary of Matthew Fox’s Daily Meditations. Every morning, when I open Matthew’s or Gianluigi’s window on our sacred but wounded world, I breathe a precious and invigorating sense of community.
My first encounter with Matthew’s teaching was at The International Transpersonal Association Conference titled “The Yearning for Wholeness: Addiction and the Spiritual Quest” (Atlanta, 1991) and I will never forget the wonderful rituals he guided us through, walking in concentric circles and singing a traditional Navajo song:”I walk with beauty before me, I walk with beauty behind me, I walk with beauty above me, I walk with beauty around me, you are so beautiful of God(dess).” Matthew’s writing introduced me to many spiritual masters like Eckhart, Julian of Norwich, Thomas Berry and others. The first time I heard the name of Thomas Berry was in Prague in 1992, at a conference themed “Science, Spirituality, and the Global Crisis: Toward a World with a Future,” when Matthew quoted him saying that the role of the scientist was to awaken awe in our world. Thank you Matthew, thank you Gianluigi, and many thanks to the entire DM team.
