May 11, 2026: Our Seventh Anniversary! (MF)
Seven years ago on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2019, we launched our Daily Meditations. Today marks our 2555th Meditation! What a milestone! Initially, all the meditations were created and curated by Matthew Fox, seven days a week. Last year, Gianluigi Gugliermetto came on board as a fellow writer in order to offer Matthew some extra time for writing his books. The DM team also includes four inter-spiritual part-time workers with skills spanning ministry, art, music, blogging, vlogging, and web mastery. We are currently planning an exciting celebration for followers online, a gathering in June where you can meet the DM team and one another, ask questions of Matthew and GG, and share stories. May 12, 2026: On Gutting the Civil Rights Act & The Need for Spiritual Warriorhood (MF)
Matthew, and many of us, are still reeling from the obscene SCOTUS decision to callously throw out the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Instead of working to ensure that “all men and women are created equal” and share “inalienable rights” —including the right for all Americans to be represented fairly and for their vote to count, they are pissing on the graves of the many martyrs who fought for those rights. One wonders how justices have been seduced by lies and bribes to make the decisions they have made. We must continue the fight. Rabbi Heschel calls on all people to be prophets: To do justice is what God demands of every person: it is the supreme commandment….
May 13, 2026: Transformation through Work (GG)
When Gianluigi Gugliermetto was first asked to come on board as a writer of DMs, he was honored, but unsure. His gifts fell more in the arena of teaching and leading seminars, not writing. However, having an intimate knowledge of all of Matthew’s work, GG decided to give it a go. He tells us that preparing and polishing each Meditation is real work, and can be tiring and take longer than expected, but it has also provided an opportunity for deep reflection. And for that, he is grateful.
May 14, 2026: A Threefold Collapse, and the Search for a Way Forward (GG)
Recently, GG listened to a lecture by Alessandro Colombo, a professor of international relations. He was asked to speak by the three Jungian associations of Italy on the dissolution of the global order as we have known it. This is very timely, because more than ever clients come to analysis filled with dread about “the end.” Professor Colombo explained that several layers of order have collapsed. These are: the neocapitalist order, the post-WWII order (the UN, NATO, etc.), and the Westphalian order (establishing the sovereignty of each state). All three orders have collapsed. In the past, when breaches occurred, shame helped bring us back to a place of stability. But now there is little respect for international law or democracy. Trump, he insists, is representative of the moral collapse of the Western-dominated world, not its cause. The audience seemed to be quite shattered, not just by the grim scenario, but by the feeling that, for the most part, he was right.
May 15, 2026: Jesus, Christ, and a New World Order (GG)
GG, who has a Ph.D. in Religion, says: I cannot help but see that religion played a very negative role in the history of Europe and, by extension, what we call “the West.” While our world seems to be shifting from democracy to fascism, a certain kind of religion resurfaces. Shamelessly, some evangelicals use the name of Christ to justify conquest and horror. This, of course, has historical precedent. GG asks, How could I then convince any scholar of international relations that religion, and more specifically Christianity, could play a positive role in the search for a new world order? Perhaps it would help to remind people that early Christians insisted on the equal dignity of every human being. For instance, the Pauline communities that spread in cities all around the Mediterranean in the middle of the first century included slaves and married women — without their husbands! And Aquinas said: “Christ teaches the dignity of human nature… and the full participation in Divinity.”
May 16, 2026: Howard Thurman on Jesus, Resistance & a New World Order (MF)
In his two recent DM’s, GG has lamented what a small role religion plays in Europe today for those trying to imagine a more just future for humanity. He calls up the memory of the crusades, inquisitions and religious wars in Europe. We could also add the genocide of Native Americans and the Jewish holocaust. But movements and individuals have chosen to resist all along. Surely liberation theology is one great force for the Good. And Gandhi said that it was studying the gospels that inspired the non-violent protest movement which helped overthrow the British empire’s colonialism. And, of course, we also have the great Civil Rights movement, which espoused the principles of love and non-violence. Howard Thurman said: The awareness of being a child of God tends to stabilize the ego and results in a new courage, fearlessness, and power. I have seen it happen again and again.

As some of you may know, one of my important spiritual teachers on the web is Elizabeth Wysen (prismatichuman.com). Elizabeth is a mystic, psychic, and also has a science background. Recently, in one of her webinar teachings, she recommended a sun researcher whom she respects and follows. His name is Ben Davidson who presents his own research on the sun and our solar system in our galaxy along with other scientists on his YouTube channel, SpaceWeatherNews. His most recent documentary, “The Disaster Cycle — Full Documentary,” about the electromagnetic cycles every 6,000 years in our solar system. He along with other galactic scientific researchers provide evidence that our planet is nearing the end (in approximately 15-20 yrs.) of another cycle with catastrophic results to our planet and human civilization. I don’t want to be alarmist and we hope these scientific predictions are not true, but I have felt the need to share this documentary for your own information and further research of the truth on your own spiritual journeys. I’m still spiritually processing the possibility of these scientific predictions for our humanity.
GG asked about Religions (Christianity) negative role in history. Christianity’s founding fathers got started on the wrong foot in that it started with dualistic thinking and that all you needed was faith in Jesus (simplified). That dualistic thinking is the same problem today in that there is always a bad guy, good vs evil, heaven vs hell, black vs white . . . etc. and the church was more worried about whether Jesus was God, instead of living a life like Jesus with Hospitality, Compassion, Communion, Community, Love thy Neighbor. It is easy to have wars with the bad guys. Christianity is 2000 years behind the time. We know through science, history, archelogy more about Christianity and Religion than ever before and we should use that knowledge to bring the world to a better place. We also have a world stuck in Stage 3 of James Fowler’s Stages of Faith. This Stage keeps them locked in their box and are okay with where they are. For the world to change, as Teilhard de Chardin said, “the time has come when it (Christianity) cannot continue to exist without being rejuvenated and refashioned.
